Morningside University is seeking an enthusiastic, student-focused Part-Time Writing Specialist to provide individualized writing support approximately 25 hours a week. In this role, you'll help students develop confidence, critical-thinking skills, and effective written communication across academic disciplines and professional settings. What You'll Do Provide one-on-one feedback on essays, research papers, reports, resumes, and other documents. Support students with organization, clarity, grammar, punctuation, style, and development of ideas. Help students interpret assignments, develop thesis statements, integrate sources, and use APA, MLA, and other citation styles. Teach brainstorming, drafting, revising, proofreading, and self-editing strategies. Coach students in adapting their writing for different disciplines, audiences, and purposes. Foster independent learning through constructive, inclusive, and encouraging feedback. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in English, Writing, Education, Communications, or a related field. Three years of teaching experience or equivalent experience. Strong writing, communication, interpersonal, and active-listening skills. Experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, a writing center, or higher education is preferred. Commitment to support students from diverse academic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
