Job Description

Coppersmith is a full-service Customs Broker, International Freight Forwarder, and Logistics Specialist with over 75 years of experience in international transportation. www.coppersmith.comWe are looking for an experienced Customs Entry Writer / Import Entry Specialist to join our Grapevine, TX team. This role will focus primarily on preparing and processing customs entries, reviewing import documentation, supporting HTS classification, handling ISF filings, and coordinating shipment clearance with CBP, carriers, customers, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on U.S. customs brokerage experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage import entries accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare, review, and transmit customs entries to CBP. Review import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, and related entry documents. Process ISF filings and monitor release status. Track entry status, rejects, holds, and required corrections to ensure timely clearance. Coordinate with CBP, carriers, customers, overseas agents, and internal teams regarding documentation and release status. Assist with HTS classification and applicable PGA requirements as needed. Ensure import entries are processed in compliance with CBP regulations and company procedures. Update shipment status and communicate proactively with customers regarding entry progress. Maintain accurate records and follow internal SOPs. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on U.S. Customs Brokerage / entry writing experience required. Customs Broker License preferred, but not required. Strong knowledge of customs entry processing, ISF, HTS classification, CBP release process, and import documentation. Strong experience with Cargowise is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills. Ability to prioritize multiple entries and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
