The ideal candidate assists in developing and editing a variety of written materials, including speeches, talking points, fact sheets, articles, web content, and newsletters, while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency through thorough proofreading. They will apply plain language principles, adapt writing styles for diverse audiences and formats, and support effective communication of the mission across internal and external platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assisting in writing speeches and talking points for agency and program leadership. Proofreading written materials for typographical, grammatical and format errors while ensuring products are of consistent quality. Researching and writing fact sheets, articles, and web content. Developing and distributing newsletters for both internal and external audiences. Applying plain language principles and solid grammar to a range of products to support communicating the mission. Incorporating a range of styles and "voices" suitable to various formats or media. Performing additional duties as assigned in support of evolving contract requirements and client needs. Understanding the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to the client. Demonstrating a commitment to quality and customer support.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Three or more years of demonstrated experience providing all writing, editing, proofreading, and creative conception as requested for any of the following materials: reports, news releases, fact sheets, website text, and public speaking scripts Currently holds or is able to obtain a DHS Fitness Determination Must have the ability to obtain the client's suitability A proficiency in utilizing MS Office products Proven familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and responsible use of AIassisted tools Excellent written and verbal communication skills A highly motivated selfstarter Must be motivated and have excellent customer service skills
