The ideal candidate develops clear, compelling written materials including speeches, talking points, fact sheets, articles, web content, and newsletters, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to plain language principles. They will also proofread and edit content, adapt writing style for diverse audiences and platforms, and support external affairs communications aligned with agency mission and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Writing speeches and talking points for agency and program leadership. Proofreading written materials for typographical, grammatical and format errors while ensuring products are of consistent quality. Researching and writing fact sheets, articles, and web content. Developing and distributing newsletters for both internal and external audiences. Designing, developing, launching, distributing, and otherwise supporting written products related external affairs plans and publications as identified. Applying plain language principles and solid grammar to a range of products to support communicating the client's mission. Incorporating a range of styles and "voices" suitable to various formats or media. Performing additional duties as assigned in support of evolving contract requirements and client needs. Understanding the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to the client. Demonstrating a commitment to quality and customer support.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Five or more years of demonstrated experience providing all writing, editing, proofreading, and creative conception as requested for any of the following materials: reports, news releases, fact sheets, website text, and public speaking scripts Currently holds or is able to obtain a DHS Fitness Determination Must have the ability to obtain the client's suitability A proficiency in utilizing MS Office products Proven familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and responsible use of AIassisted tools Excellent written and verbal communication skills A highly motivated selfstarter Must be motivated and have excellent customer service skills
