Design Engineer - Chassis Subframe

Summary:

This role will support Chassis Subframe engineering design and development activities for a largescale Automotive OEM.

Responsibilities:

Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation. Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance. Create part specification requirements and BOM. Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers. Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection. Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes. Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs Travel to client sites required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing. 5+ years of Automotive industry experience with design of Chassis Subframes/Cradles and Engine Mounts from concept to mass production. 5+ years of Experience using 3-D modeling software

CATIA V6/3D

Experience (CATIA V5 experience will be considered). Experience with performing detailed tolerance stack-ups, bolt torque calculations, basic linear-static FEA. Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) required. Experience with coordination of project work with Global/offshore teams is desired.
