Send job Job Details Job DescriptionJob Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Empower students to reach their full potential by supporting learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the Binghamton, NY area. This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated educator who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to making a difference in a school environment. You will be working full-time onsite for the 2026-2027 school year, supporting a varied caseload of students. Specific assignments and further details will be provided prior to the start of the academic year.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid state teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) or comparable qualification Experience working with school-age students who have auditory disabilities Proficiency in sign language (ASL or other) required Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with general educators, parents, and other support professionals Ability to assess students' needs and adapt instruction for diverse learning styles Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and documentation of servicesKey Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction and accommodations for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across grade levels, as needed Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Consult and collaborate with instructional teams, audiologists, and family members Adapt curriculum materials and classroom strategies for accessibility and inclusion Participate in professional development, departmental meetings, and ongoing training as required This is a rewarding opportunity to be a crucial resource for students and staff, fostering an accessible and supportive educational experience.
