Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated UPK (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) Lead Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a nurturing classroom environment. As a UPK Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for designing engaging curriculum, implementing developmentally appropriate activities, and supporting children's social, emotional, and academic growth. Your leadership will ensure a positive learning experience for children in early childhood education settings, promoting curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, focusing on literacy, math, physical education, and social skills. Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and active learning for children of diverse backgrounds. Utilize effective classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and foster respectful interactions among students. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones through meetings and written updates. Conduct ongoing assessments of child development using standardized testing methods to tailor instruction to individual needs. Collaborate with special education professionals to support children requiring additional assistance or early intervention services. Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and maintain accurate documentation related to child welfare and safety protocols.
Qualifications Minimum Educational Qualification:
Completed Bachelor degree, with 5 year study plan to obtain Master's degree and full NYS Teaching Certification in Birth through Grade 2.
Preferred Educational Qualification:
Completed Master's program and full NYS Teaching Certification in Birth through Grade 2. Proven experience working with young children in preschool or childcare settings, including classroom experience in early childhood education. Strong knowledge of child development principles, curriculum development, behavior management, and classroom management techniques. Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention strategies, and literacy education methods. Certification in first aid and CPR and ongoing professional development in childhood development is preferred. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners. Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate math, physical education, and other core subjects tailored for preschool learners. Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety regulations in educational environments.
