Videos Duties Help Major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs all general routine radiographs. Maintains effective supervisory control of the (Burlington) OPC Radiology area by coordining, planning, organizing, and executing the work potential to expedite workflow pterns within the departments. Schedules pient for exams and maintains daily log of pients and procedures to be incorpored into stistical management workload profiles. Performs Quality Control procedures which may include (but not exclusively) the following: Radiographic equipment mA linearity and reproducibility, Automic exposure control density and field sensitivity, Reproducibility and accuracy of timer and KVP stions, Lead apron radiion verificion. Keeps abreast of technological advances in the fields of Radiology and incorpores these advances in the fields of Radiology and incorpores these advances into in-service educional programs for the nursing and physician staff. Administrive accountability for departmental equipment and supplies. Anticipes needs for supplies and orders as needed. Liaison for complaints and requests from pients, physicians and other personnel concerning activities between the VAMC and the (Burlington) OPC Radiology/department such as: appointment schedules, examinions, policies and procedures. Works closely with the radiology staff the VA Medical Center in coordining and integring all activities. Troubleshoots equipment used in diagnostic radiologic procedures and is able to make minor repairs and/or adjustments. Exercises extreme caution in the handling and safeguarding of all radiion producing equipment. Must recognize and report major equipment malfunctions within a timely manner to service representive. Coordines incoming and outgoing x-ray movements with the (Burlington) OPC and the VAMC. Responsible for explaining exams to competent pients in terms the pient will comprehend as well as understanding potential hazards th may occur as a result of the exam. May be required by procedure or pient's condition to monitor vital signs and initie cardiopulmonary resuscition. Receives and interprets all radiology requests. Inputs pertinent radiology informion into computer. Registers, requests, cancels, and edits exams via the computer radiology informion system (RIS). Compiles computer genered x-ray reports and distributes to approprie clinics and physicians. Properly identifies pient films using Image Readers and L & R markers. This is essential so th mistaken identity of films to pients does not occur. The radiographer must be certain pient identificion and the requests are identical. Practices radiion safety in order to reduce exposure to pients, staff and self. This is achieved by the approprie use of lead aprons, lead gloves, lead shields, lead-lined walls, collimion, and distance management. Film badges are worn by the radiographer to assure compliance to radiion regulions and guidelines of the ste. Coordines all activities of the (Burlington) OPC Radiology department with Iowa City Radiology department to provide maximum pient care. Ability to vary tests or trement procedures as needed to compense for pient's individual medical conditions and body habitus. Implements new ideas to obtain more diagnostic results with existing Radiology equipment. Interviews pient obtaining pertinent medical history and precise medicion usage as it pertains to the cardiac system. Explains to competent pients the rionale of procedures and instructions on how to complete the procedure. Schedules pients for radiology exams the (Burlington) OPC and the VAMC. Completion of a full-time training course of least 24 months in durion (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certifice or an associe degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educion in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Educion (DOE).Credentialing Standards :
Public Law 97-35, the Consumer-Pient Radiion Health and Safety Act of 1981, requires th persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, Standards for the Accredition of Educional Programs and the Credentialing of Radiographic Personnel. Essentially, they must have successfully completed an educional program th meets or exceeds the standards described in th regulion and is accredited by an organizion recognized by the U.S. Department of Educion and be certified as radiographers in their field.Loss of Credential :
An employee in this occupion who fails to obtain certificion within two years, or who fails to maintain the required certificion must be removed from the occupion, which may also result in terminion of employment. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria). •Exception for Non-Certified, Entry Level Candides. Non-certified DRTs who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for ARRT (R) certificion may be given a temporary appointment as a gradue DRT under the authority of 38 U.S.C. § 7405(c)(2)(B). (a) Knowledge of the technical adequacy of the digital image, including the ability to adjust the image quality in the digital system.
