Job Description

Position Summary:
The Dietary Cook supports the nutritional well-being of residents with meal preparation, service, and sanitation under the direction of the Dietary Manager. This role ensures that all food service operations are conducted in accordance with state and federal regulations, including infection control and dietary guidelines set forth by CMS and facility policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to resident dietary needs, preferences, and physician orders Accurately follow posted menus and tray cards to ensure residents receive the correct food items and textures Deliver trays to designated areas and assist with setting up meals for residents as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen, dining, and service areas Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment according to sanitation procedures Assist in receiving, rotating, and storing food and supplies according to safety standards Record food temperatures, cleaning logs, and other required documentation daily Adhere to personal hygiene and infection control standards at all times Communicate any concerns regarding resident eating habits, food refusal, or special needs to the Dietary Manager or nursing staff Attend required in-services and training to maintain compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting Basic understanding of therapeutic diets and food textures is a plus Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to resident dignity and safety
Work Schedule:
Full-time or part-time; may include weekends and holidays as required by facility needs.
