About the
Role:
The Dietary Cook plays a critical role in preparing nutritious and appetizing meals tailored to meet the dietary needs of residents in a long-term care facility. This position ensures that all food preparation complies with sanitation standards and dietary guidelines, supporting the health and well-being of individuals under care. The Dietary Cook collaborates closely with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to implement diet therapy plans effectively. Flexibility in scheduling and adaptability to changing dietary requirements are essential to meet the dynamic needs of the facility. Ultimately, this role contributes to enhancing the quality of life for residents by delivering meals that are both safe and enjoyable. Looking for a PRN Cook/Dietary Aide willing to cover vacations and call-ins. Flexible schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working in a long-term care facility or similar healthcare environment. Knowledge of sanitation standards and food safety regulations. Ability to read, write, and understand instructions related to food preparation and diet therapy. Demonstrated ability to perform work tasks efficiently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with prescribed diet therapy plans and facility standards. Maintain strict sanitation and hygiene practices to ensure food safety and compliance with health regulations. Work collaboratively with dietary and healthcare teams to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences. Manage quantity and quality of food production to meet the demands of the long-term care facility. Read, write, and understand instructions related to recipes, dietary restrictions, and safety protocols. Adapt to a flexible work schedule to support facility operations, including weekends and holidays. Continuously seek out new methods and principles to improve food preparation and service.
