Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Registered Dietetic Technician (RDT) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in nutrition and dietetics, with experience in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical support within diverse healthcare settings. As an RDT, you will collaborate closely with registered dietitians, healthcare providers, and patients to develop personalized nutrition plans that promote health and recovery. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient well-being through expert nutritional care and education. Responsibilities Assist in conducting comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate nutritional needs and develop appropriate care plans. Implement dietary interventions, including tube feeding management and weight loss programs, tailored to individual patient requirements. Support registered dietitian in diagnostic evaluations and the development of nutrition strategies for post acute care, geriatrics, and long-term care populations. Supervise dietary department activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards, sanitation protocols, and accurate documentation within electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Provide health coaching to patients on topics such as nutrition education, lifestyle modifications, and weight management strategies. Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition interventions as necessary under the supervision of licensed dietitians. Assist with training and supervising junior staff or interns to ensure quality standards are maintained within the dietary team. Maintain detailed records of patient care activities, including care plans, progress notes, and diagnostic evaluations. Qualifications Certification as a Registered Dietetic Technician (RDT) or equivalent credential from an accredited program. Prior experience in hospital settings or healthcare environments with exposure to acute care, long-term care, or geriatrics is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of physiology related to nutrition, metabolism, and disease processes affecting dietary needs. Experience managing tube feeding protocols and implementing specialized dietary interventions. Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation and patient record management. Proven ability to supervise staff or interns within a dietary department setting. Excellent communication skills for effective patient assessment, health coaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Knowledge of dietary considerations for weight loss programs and diagnostic evaluation processes is advantageous.
