Job Description:
The Planet Group is seeking a Digital Media Manager to lead day-to-day social media and email communications while supporting the strategic integration of digital brands during an organizational merger. Working closely with the Communications Associate Director, the manager will oversee content creation and deployment across social media platforms and email channels, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with the institute's diverse stakeholder audiences.
Duties include:
Manage day?to?day social media operations across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and YouTube Plan, create, schedule, and publish content aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns Develop and execute social media campaigns to promote events, research, programs, and announcements Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and staff to fulfill social media and digital content requests Coordinate with freelance designers, copyeditors, and campaign support staff Maintain editorial calendars and ensure consistent posting across all platforms Monitor engagement, analyze performance metrics, and prepare quarterly reports Upload and manage video content on YouTube Draft, design, test, and deploy 1-4 email newsletters per week using Emma or similar platforms Write compelling email copy and subject lines for diverse stakeholder audiences Conduct A/B testing to optimize email engagement and performance Manage email lists, segmentation, and compliance with university and legal standards Support digital brand integration during an organizational merger, including account consolidation and template updates Ensure consistent brand voice, visual identity, and messaging across all digital channels Create social and email graphics, videos, and templates using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite Partner with web and communications teams to ensure cross?platform consistency
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field Minimum 3 years of experience in digital media, communications, or social media management Demonstrated experience managing institutional or organizational social media accounts Hands?on experience with email marketing platforms (Emma preferred; Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar) Strong copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills Proficiency with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite Experience with social publishing, listening, and analytics tools (Sprout, Khoros, Brandwatch, or similar) Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable improvements Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to handle multiple priorities High attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross?functional teams Knowledge of digital accessibility best practices Familiarity with higher education, research, or technology communications preferred
