Direct Care Worker-Lead Jonesboro, GA 30238 From $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time From $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Lead Direct Care Worker to join our team in providing compassionate, high-quality support to individuals with diverse needs. As a pivotal member of our care team, you will lead by example, ensuring that residents or clients receive personalized care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for staff and residents alike. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive caregiving experience in a group home setting with individuals with various behaviors, and a passion for enhancing quality of life through attentive, respectful care. Duties Supervise and mentor direct care staff to ensure consistent delivery of professional, person-centered support. Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including grooming, life skills, and house maintenance. Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all care activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Support residents with specialized needs such as Autism, developmentally disabled. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning and sanitizing resident areas. Drive residents when necessary for appointments or community outings, adhering to safety regulations. Document incidents, shift reports, and care notes thoroughly to ensure continuity of care. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to develop individualized care plans that reflect each resident's preferences and needs. Schedule Expectations This position requires flexibility and reliability. The Lead Direct Care Worker is expected to assist with operational coverage needs, including: Covering open shifts due to call-outs Assisting during staffing shortages Working rotating weekends or holidays as needed Remaining reachable for urgent staffing support when scheduled on-call Qualifications Proven experience in group homes or home & community care settings with a strong understanding of long-term care practices. Knowledge of life skills assistance, medication administration, behavior modification and monitoring, and behavior management techniques. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as ABA training or medication administration are highly valued. Experience working with individuals with at behavior challenges, mental health diagnosis, developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems for documenting resident information accurately. Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining a positive attitude; previous group home leadership experience is advantageous. Valid driver's license and clean driving record for transportation duties. Strong communication skills combined with patience, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions.
