Direct Support Professional Syracuse, UT 84075 $17.40 - $22.00 an hour - Part-time, Full-time $17.40 - $22.00 an hour - Part-time, Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, and other health conditions. In this vital role, you will be a dedicated advocate for residents' well-being, ensuring they receive personalized assistance in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help empower individuals to achieve greater independence and quality of life through meaningful interactions and tailored care. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly. Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas. Support residents during community outings or activities to promote social engagement and community integration. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties in living spaces, common areas, and treatment rooms. Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA and assist in updating individual care plans regularly. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are required or must be obtained upon hire. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or other memory care needs is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs. Strong communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care and social work principles. Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed.
