Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, and other health conditions. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment. Your dedication will help enhance the quality of life for those you serve while fostering a positive and respectful community atmosphere. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals. Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring safety and cleanliness during food handling. Support residents during outings or community activities to foster social engagement and community integration. Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices safely for patient transfers or mobility assistance. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols. Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and facility policies. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training are required or highly advantageous. Experience with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, or hospice care is a plus. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or similar equipment. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities of any kind.
