Job Description

Direct Support Staff- Morning Position Supporting Neurodivergent Young Adult Males (Age 21) Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide evening support for two neurodivergent 21-year-old males. This role focuses on promoting independence, daily living skills, communication support, community participation, and a calm, structured evening routine. You will work directly with the individuals and their family team to ensure safety, comfort, and meaningful engagement in home and community settings. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesDaily Support Assist with evening routines including meals, hygiene prompts, and preparing for bedtime. Provide communication support using preferred methods (S2C, AAC, typing, writing, gestures, or visuals). Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and empowerment during all activities. Support emotional regulation and help maintain a stable, low-stress environment. Community & Home Engagement Participate in activities such as walks, music, reading, crafts, or quiet community outings. Support sensory needs, providing breaks, tools, and adjustments when needed. Promote positive social interactions and meaningful engagement. Safety & Monitoring Ensure safety at all times during home and community activities. Follow individualized support plans, sensory plans, and communication profiles. Document daily notes and communicate relevant updates to the team. Requirements Previous experience working with autistic or neurodivergent individuals strongly preferred. Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in fast-changing or high-energy situations. Reliable, punctual, and consistent attendance is required for this position. Strong communication skills and willingness to learn non-traditional communication methods. Must be comfortable following structured routines and individualized plans. Valid driver's license preferred (depending on assignment). CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Autism support Sensory regulation strategies S2C, AAC, or alternative communication methods Behavioral support using a trauma-informed approach Background in caregiving, education, behavioral health, or community support roles a plus Working with neurodivergent young adults is meaningful, rewarding, and full of growth—for them and for you. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
