Job Summary:
Enrichment Services DSP Supports individuals with disabilities in daily living and community engagement across various settings. Promotes independence, advocates for personal goals, and communicates health and care needs with staff and teams.

Our Mission at Mountain Valley Developmental Services is to encourage and support individuals with developmental disabilities, enhance their ability to live, learn, and work in an independent and inclusive manner, and to educate the community about their contributions and capabilities. MVDS supports adults and children in Eagle, Garfield, Lake and Pitkin counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Our work provides life span services for these individuals, their parents and family members, guardians, colleagues at work, neighbors, and friends to promote independence, quality of life, and rights protection. We take pride in our person-centered care and deep commitment to supporting persons with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities:
Respect Individual Rights
  • Treat individuals with dignity, support self-expression, follow state and MVDS reporting policies, and comply with investigations as a Mandatory Reporter. Person-Centered Support
  • Promote informed choices, personal growth, and independence by aligning services with individual interests and values. Community Access & Inclusion
  • Ensure access to meaningful community resources, encourage involvement, and support individuals in maintaining their personal environments. Health & Safety
  • Maintain safe and clean living spaces, follow all safety protocols, report hazards promptly, and participate in emergency preparedness drills. Transportation & Mobility Support
  • Provide safe, defensive driving and assist with physical transfers, including for non-ambulatory individuals. Individualized Plans (IPs)
  • Contribute to IP development and goal-setting, implement care plans, and adjust support as needs evolve. Medical & Behavioral Support
  • Respond effectively in emergencies, support physical and emotional needs, and communicate concerns to medical or supervisory staff. Medication Administration
  • Administer and document medications accurately; follow all health protocols and care plans. Documentation & Communication
  • Complete required documentation each shift, monitor emails, and maintain clear communication with the interdisciplinary team.

See:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant/Aide training preferred. Previous experience in health care, human services, or nursing home setting preferred.
We Require:
A criminal and Motor Vehicle record which meets company standards. A valid Colorado Driver's license. Verified legal status to work in the United States. Basic computer ability.
Physical Demands:
Frequent walking, sitting, and use of hands; occasional standing, bending, driving, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Requires full vision, hearing, and communication abilities, regular reading, writing, reasoning, and computer use. May involve exposure to verbal or physical aggression; staff receive training to prevent and manage such situations safely. Essential Functions Rights

Respond as a Mandatory Reporter. Report all incidents of suspected client rights violations, mistreatment, abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately according to Colorado state law and MVDS policies and procedures. Respect the values, opinions, preferences and choices of individuals. Comply immediately with all requests for information and/or face-to-face interviews during investigations of mistreatment, abuse, neglect or exploitation (MANE). Person Centered

Provide opportunities and choices for growth and development based on client interests, preferences and input. Ensure access to community resources based on client interests, preferences and input. Encourage residents to take ownership in maintaining their environment. Provide emotional support, social guidance and positive role modeling. Safety (Risk Management)
  • Protecting individuals from harm Assist clients to maintain a safe and clean living environment.
Utilize program's chore chart for a list of duties. Provide safe transportation of persons receiving services, drive defensively and follow all traffic laws at all times. Follow all safety guidelines including, but not limited to healthy lifting, transferring, and back care at all times. Identify and solve potential safety hazards, repair or maintenance needs or immediately report them to Operations Manager and Residential Manager. In case of emergency, follow the emergency plan identified for the facility; notify appropriate authorities and Mountain Valley staff as soon as possible. Conduct, document and participate in emergency drills as directed by the Residential Manager and/or Safety Coordinator; Ensure the vehicles are well-maintained and cared for. Individualized Plan and Care Coordination Participate in the development of the Individualized Plan (IP) for each resident by participating in the biannual assessment and development of new goals. Provide services and implement goals in accordance with the Individualized Plan for each individual supported. Communicate with the Interdisciplinary Team as needs change. Demonstrate competence and good decision making in traumatic situations including medical emergencies, physical aggression, or other maladaptive behavior. Assist individual residents with physical and personal care as identified in the Individualized Plan (IP). Assist non-ambulatory residents with physical transfer as necessary, including, but not limited to, pushing wheelchairs, assisting someone in standing from a seated or laying position and entering and exiting vehicles. Documentation Review necessary documentation at start of shift and enter necessary documentation at by the end of shift per MVDS policies and procedures. Read emails and respond accordingly in a timely manner. Medical Needs Communicate with the Program Manager and/or the Medical Office about observed medical, physical and emotional resident needs in a timely manner. Accurately administer medications to residents, document administration and report/document all medication administration errors, as directed by the Medical Office and medication administration policies. Follow all health protocols and care plans.
