Direct Support Professional (DSW/DSP)

Overview We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and those requiring assistance in daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients while ensuring their safety and well-being in a supportive environment. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide patient care including monitoring vital signs and administering medication as per care plans. Support individuals in achieving personal goals and enhancing their independence through direct support. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation. Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties. Document patient observations and report any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information. Assist with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary, while ensuring client comfort and safety. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to individual needs. Experience Previous experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is preferred. Familiarity with caregiving for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or Alzheimer's care is highly desirable. Skills in patient observation, monitoring, and providing compassionate support are essential. Experience in home health care or hospice care is a plus. Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is beneficial. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are crucial for success in this role.
