We are currently hiring for
PART-TIME DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS IN THE DINWIDDIE AND PETERSBURG AREAS!
FULLYON-SITE, FACE-TO-FACE WITH CLIENT IN THEIR HOME AND COMMUNITY
(NOT REMOTE) We are looking for DSPs to work in our in-home support program. DSPs are assigned to work with individuals with developmental disabilities within their home and within the community. Services include supports to improve the overall health, safety, and well-being of individuals being served. Supports may include activities such as taking clients out into the community (employee must be have reliable transportation and be comfortable transporting clients) and attending appointments.DAY SHIFTS AVAILABLE, FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING
(10-20 hours per week to start) DSP must be comfortable working in client's home and have reliable to transportation to transport client to appointments and community activities. Job Overview As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your primary focus will be to enhance their quality of life by promoting independence and facilitating their daily activities. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including home care, assisted living, and nursing homes, ensuring their safety and well-being. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will provide in-home support services to individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive the care and assistance needed to achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, providing companionship, and implementing individualized support plans. Responsibilities Provide personal care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Engage in activities that promote social interaction and community involvement. Provide companionship and emotional support. Encourage and assist with participation in hobbies, recreational activities, and community events. Monitor patients' health and report any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs. Support clients in social activities and community engagement to promote inclusion. Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Document daily activities, progress, and any incidents accurately in client records. Collaborate with healthcare teams, including nurses and therapists, to ensure comprehensive care. Skills Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality. Experience working in nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred. Familiarity with supporting individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities. Proficient in patient monitoring techniques and basic health assessments. Certification in CPR is a plus for ensuring client safety. Experience in home care or hospice care settings is advantageous. Understanding of dementia care practices to assist clients effectively. Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with clients and their families. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team dedicated to client welfare. Individual must have at least two years of experience as a DSP.
