Job Description

Job Summary Direct Support Professionals ( DSP ) are responsible for assisting in the supervision and/or goals/training of members. This is a one-on-one service. This is a therapeutic relationship, which is to assist the individual in therapy to change his or her life for the better. Trust, respect, and person-centered therapy are major components of a good therapeutic relationship. WNC Direct Care staff are encouraged to show empathy and genuineness. As with any other social relationship, the therapeutic relationship has boundaries which help to define acceptable behaviors. The duties are varied but require quality service delivery to ensure positive outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Actively creates, coordinates and communicates assigned member individual program plans, goals, implementation, objects, restriction needs, resources and any other information related to WNC Direct Care staff. Assists in establishing and maintaining record keeping in accordance. Promotes and maintains communication with all entities of the members' daily life. Directly supervises the service the member receives. Strictly maintains members confidentiality. Participate in meetings as needed. Is responsible for member advocacy. Monitors, collects and distributes data as appropriate regarding assigned member program plan. Relate to the families of all members in a positive, professional and therapeutic manner. Provide both formal and informal communication with the family. Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and schedules. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in social work or patient care is a plus Necessary Special Qualifications 18 years of age possess a valid driver's license. Background and Health Registry Checks Required. Special Skills and Abilities Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to accurately record data and document observations events in medication. Ability to communicate with other staff and members of the community. Be a flexible team player. Safety & Certifications Behavior problems, such as aggression of members, and or lifting, could cause bodily injury. WNC Direct Care provides NCI + intervention and First Aid/CPR with Bloodborne Pathogen and Med Administration Certifications with paid training to help promote safety for all members and staff in the community. Working Conditions Employees are expected to provide services both indoors and outdoors. Exposure to toileting and feeding are based on the needs of the member and communicated to employee prior to assignment. It is important for our team to match the right DSP with the right member.
Pay:
$18.00 - $19.00 per hour
