Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and aging-related conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through personalized assistance, fostering independence, and promoting a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Monitor residents' health by observing vital signs, administering medications as prescribed, and reporting any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals promptly. Support residents during meals by preparing nutritious food, assisting with eating if necessary, and ensuring dietary restrictions are followed according to care plans. Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing routine cleaning duties, laundry, and sanitation tasks in accordance with health regulations. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including Alzheimer's or dementia care, autism support, or hospice care as required. Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance. Foster positive social interactions by engaging residents in recreational activities, encouraging community participation, and promoting emotional well-being. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of resident information. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in medication administration or dementia care is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with patient transfers and mobility support. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing signs of health deterioration or behavioral changes. Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health conditions such as Alzheimer's or autism is desirable.
