Direct Support Professional ($20+ an hour)

We are seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to service clients within the Waconia, Watertown, Mound, Chanhassen, and surrounding areas on a part-time or full-time basis The driving radius for Direct Support Professional staff is limited to 25- 30 minutes of your home to mitigate excessive traveling. Additionally, we offer our Direct Support Professional Staff gas mileage reimbursement and paid driving time. Direct Support Professionals typically meet with clients between the hours of 8am to 7pm. Full time DSP schedules are either 8-4, 9-5, or 10-6. -- late evenings and overnight hours are not available for staffing. Ehrnriter Companion and Community Group offers room for career growth as we strive to train and promote Direct Support Professional staff from within to senior leadership roles. Please note that this is not a group home setting, our DSP's will be meeting with clients in their own residences. This role is similar to an IHS (In home support) or ILS (Independent Living Skills) position.

Responsibilities of Direct Support Professionals:

DSPs do NOT perform personal cares (no bathing, toileting, med passing, cleaning, etc) DSPs meet with clients, one on one, in their homes on a regularly scheduled basis - gas mileage reimbursement provided with paid driving time DSPs transport clients as needed throughout the community for appointments and activities - gas mileage reimbursement provided with paid driving time DSPs support clients through creative, thoughtful, problem-solving DSPs understand and work to follow through with support plan goals DSPs assist individuals in planning and structuring time together DSPs must maintain timely completion of documentation of activities and progress as directed by supervisor DSPs must maintain clear and professional communication with clients, Field Coordinators, and members of the support team

Qualifications of Direct Support Professionals:

High School diploma or equivalent 2+ years of customer service experience 1+ year(s) in the human service experience Reliable car that is well maintained and suitable for client transportation Valid driver's license and valid car insurance Ability to pass a criminal background check Ability to pass and maintain required training for DHS compliance such as CPR/First aid and

HIPAA Essential Functions of Direct Support Professionals:

Occasionally move up to 20lbs for various client needs. Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 75% of the session Frequently move within and about the clients' residence and/or community, including ascending/descending stairs or ladders. Have and maintain a valid driver's license Frequently, and throughout the session, verbally communicate with clients Ability to view clients in-person throughout sessions Our Direct Support Professional staff work one on one with a client, in their own homes and in the community, to focus on goals that they have set for themselves, build skills that empower them, and help them to engage and integrate with their community while remaining independent. Quite a few of our clients have pets, are you comfortable working in an environment with animals? What interested you the most about this position? We are an outside service that meets with clients in whatever residency they're in such as their own house, an apartment, a group home, or an assisted-living facility. We try to be competitive in this market with where we start our DSPs at and look to start around the $20 an hour range.
