CSS is a private not-for-profit social/human services agency that initiates, provides and promotes services for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families, within their communities, in order to strengthen their independence, self-esteem and ability to participate in and contribute to community life. CSS is seeking a dedicated individuals to join our team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) working with adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities residing in the community. As a DSP, you would assist the individuals with achieving their individualize goals in the areas of activities of daily living skills, community integration, medication management, economic independence and other areas outlined in the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
Specific Duties:
Advocates, explains and protects the rights of individuals and their families. Assists in the implementation of the program individual's individual service plan by providing direct service to the program individual and their family. Assists program individuals to develop community supports, fostering relationships with non-paid persons in the community, e.g. family members, neighbors, volunteers, and landlords. Provides training to program individuals in daily living (cleaning their home, dental care, hygiene), employment, recreation, that promotes independence, productivity and integration. Assists program individuals in money management, including applying and maintaining financial entitlements. Provides supportive counseling and problem solving assistance on an ongoing basis and at times of crisis. Provides transportation services and training in how to use public transportation to program individuals. Provides training and assistance to program individuals on maintaining their health and dental care, and other life safety issues (fire safety, self-preservation, etc.). Provides program individuals with companionship. Assists program individuals with their medication needs and monitors for any side effects. Participates on community support team in identifying and addressing gaps in service provision, and ongoing exploration of improvements in how services are provided.

  • 9:00am Saturday 11:00pm
  • 9:00am Requirements Must have a High School diploma or GED.
Position requires the employee to have access to a motor vehicle, to have a valid driver's license, to provide a current certificate of automobile insurance, and to transport individuals as needed. Completion of DSP certification training within 120 days of hire. Prefer applicants with at least one year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
