Job Description

The Director of Enterprise Technology Operations and Planning provides technical and strategic leadership for Denison's enterprise applications ecosystem, focusing on the operations, vision, governance, and evolution of the university's Workday platform and related systems. This role leads the team responsible for supporting and optimizing enterprise applications, including Workday, Banner, and key third-party systems, to ensure they serve as a cohesive foundation for modern, efficient university operations. Working closely with campus partners, the Director leads enterprise systems strategy, oversees platform operations and integrations, manages release cycles and vendor relationships, and drives continuous improvement to support strategic, data-informed administrative processes across the university.
Essential Functions:
Supervision & Team Leadership:
Supervises assigned staff, including Workday Business Analysts, integration specialists, and Banner support staff. Responsibilities include assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance and coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.
Workday Operations & Release Management:
Manages the Workday release lifecycle, coordinates system testing with functional departments, and ensures the operational continuity of Workday services.
Enterprise Application Oversight:
Leads the technical management and ongoing support of enterprise applications, including Workday, Banner, and related third-party systems. Oversees integrations, tenant management, system maintenance, and the refresh schedule for Workday Sandbox and Sandbox Preview tenants.
Technical Architecture & Planning:
Provides technical guidance on IT application architecture and long-term enterprise application strategy, including future-state analysis and system planning.
Campus Collaboration:
Collaborates with campus departments and stakeholders to identify system needs, implement new features, and ensure enterprise applications effectively support institutional operations.
Project & Vendor Management:
Leads enterprise application implementation projects, manages vendor relationships for enterprise systems, and oversees the technical aspects of campus software implementations.

Level of Education:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Preferred:
Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Relevant experience can be substituted for education.
Work Experience:
Required:
Minimum of 7 years of experience supporting enterprise applications (such as Workday or other ERP systems). Demonstrated experience with system configuration, integrations, and project leadership. Progressive supervisory experience and a proven track record of effective team collaboration.
Preferred:
10+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, including leading complex technical projects and managing high-performing teams. Deep Workday technical knowledge and hands-on administrative experience.
