Job Description

A team-oriented person with a positive attitude who works well with staff, parents, children, and volunteers. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Children's Ministry Leadership Plan, organize, and oversee ministry programming for children ages 2 through 5th grade. Provide spiritual direction, vision, and leadership for Springs Kids in alignment with the mission of Living Springs. Develop opportunities for children to grow in biblical knowledge, spiritual formation, fellowship, and ministry involvement. 2. Sunday Ministry Oversight Oversee Sunday School and children's ministry environments during worship services. Manage the children's check-in process to ensure safety, organization, and a welcoming experience for families. Choose and prepare curriculum, weekly materials, supplies, and resources for teachers, children, and parents. 3. Volunteer Recruitment and Development Recruit, train, encourage, and support teachers, leaders, and volunteers for children's ministry programs. Provide leadership training, communication, curriculum, and resources for Sunday School teachers and ministry volunteers. Maintain volunteer compliance requirements, including background checks and necessary forms. 4. Family Events and Special Programming Plan, promote, and coordinate seasonal family events, outreach opportunities, VBS, midweek programs, and other children's ministry activities. Work with staff and ministry leaders to coordinate children's participation in church-wide events and worship opportunities. Evaluate events and programs for effectiveness and make improvements as needed. 5. Family Care and Communication Welcome and orient new families to the children's ministry. Communicate clearly with parents regarding schedules, events, curriculum, ministry opportunities, and expectations. Provide loving support, encouragement, and guidance to children and families in the church and community. 6. Administration and Operations Maintain ministry calendars, promotional materials, forms, newsletters, and parent communication. Oversee the children's ministry budget and expenditures in coordination with church leadership. Maintain and organize ministry supplies, classroom materials, decorations, equipment, and children's environments. Attend staff meetings, staff prayer, and regular check-ins with church leadership as available. Collaboration and Support Work closely with the Children's Ministry Coordinator, Youth Director, Worship Leader, church administrator, and other ministry leaders. Support related ministries and church initiatives that serve children and families. Assist with other duties as assigned and help where needed as part of the Living Springs staff team. Qualifications Experience in children's ministry, family ministry, youth ministry, education, or a related field preferred. Strong administrative, organizational, and event-planning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to recruit, train, encourage, and coordinate volunteers. Warm, relational, and comfortable working with children, parents, volunteers, and staff. Comfortable using technology, social media, scheduling tools, and children's check-in systems. Able to manage curriculum, supplies, calendars, forms, and ministry details with consistency. Flexible and available for Sunday ministry, seasonal events, staff meetings, and other ministry needs. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Hours and Compensation The Director of Children's Ministries is a part-time position, averaging 20-25 hours per week. Hours are flexible and may vary based on Sunday ministry needs, seasonal events, VBS, family programs, and other ministry activities. Tuesday staff meetings from 12-2pm are required. Regular responsibilities include Sunday morning ministry oversight, weekly leadership meetings, staff meetings, and staff prayer as available. All staff are expected to help where needed. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
