DISTRICT PROFILE
Nauset Public Schools comprises five school districts located in the four Cape Cod towns of Brewster, Eastham, Orleans and Wellfleet. Each town has its own school committee which governs its elementary school(s); the Nauset Regional School Committee governs the regional middle and high schools.
POSITION SUMMARY
Nauset Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and community-minded Director of Communications & Community Engagement to join the district's leadership team. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a comprehensive communications strategy that serves both internal and external audiences across the district's seven (7) schools and four school communities. The Director oversees all aspects of district communications, including community and media relations, publications, marketing, social media, special events, school and business partnerships, and community education. Working closely with district and school leaders, the Director provides strategic guidance, professional expertise, and technical support to ensure clear, cohesive, and effective communication across multiple platforms. This position leads the creative and strategic efforts to elevate district initiatives, programs, and services; promote transparency and trust; strengthen district visibility and voice; and foster meaningful connection, collaboration, and shared understanding between Nauset Public Schools and the broader community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead District Communications:
Oversee a cohesive, districtwide communications approach that ensures timely, accurate, and accessible information is shared with internal and external stakeholders, promoting clarity, consistency, and alignment with district and school priorities.
Strategic Planning:
Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive communications strategy that streamlines messaging, strengthens coordination across schools and departments, and supports district initiatives, programs, and decision-making.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with district leadership, school administrators, staff, families, and community partners to maintain a consistent communications approach, integrate stakeholder feedback, and improve communication practices across the district.
Content Creation:
Design, develop, and produce high-quality written and visual content—including messaging, graphics, flyers, brochures, newsletters, social media posts, press releases, and website updates—to effectively communicate district initiatives across multiple platforms.
Digital Presence Management:
Oversee and manage the District's digital presence, including the official website and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn), ensuring content is current, engaging, accessible, and aligned with district goals and priorities.
Website Administration and Support:
Manage website content for the Central Office and School Committee, providing functional oversight, guidance, and training to district- and school-based staff on content development, posting, and maintenance.
Meeting and Public Engagement Support:
Attend School Committee and subcommittee meetings, as requested by the Superintendent, to support communications needs and ensure timely, accurate, and transparent public information.
Event Documentation and Promotion:
Attend district- and school-hosted events to document, highlight, and communicate district goals, initiatives, and achievements, with an emphasis on equity, inclusion, and meaningful community engagement.
Graphic and Visual Design:
Develop high-quality graphic and visual materials to support presentations, communications, and outreach efforts for district departments and schools.
Leadership Team Participation:
Serve as a member of the Superintendent's Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning, districtwide initiatives, and ensuring coordinated, consistent messaging across the district.
Other Duties:
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills. Proficiency in social media management, web content management, and design software. Strong project management, collaboration, and strategic thinking abilities. Ability to adapt quickly to new software, systems, and technologies.

SALARY:
$79,000.00 - $89,000.00

July 1, 2026, Pending FY27 budget approval
