Job description Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church Director of Faith Formation Reports to: Pastor Full Time - 11 month position

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Director oversees (designs, directs, evaluates) in the name of the pastor a total parish catechetical program and provides leadership to assist a parish community n building a solid foundation for spirituality, Christian living, service, and evangelization. Duties And Responsibilities Develops goals, objectives, and strategies for the total parish faith formation program. Designs, develops and coordinates individual catechetical programs which meet the needs of all segments of the parish community. Maintains a close working relationship with the Pastor, the other Pastoral Staff, and parish volunteers. Manages the total Faith Formation Program for children and their parents. Monitors a budget for the operation of the total Faith Formation Program. Communicates with participants, parents, and the entire parish to keep them informed of faith formation efforts and developments. Evaluates the total Faith Formation Program in relation to goals, objectives, and strategies and makes necessary adjustments based on parish feedback and professional development. Designs, develops, and directs the Faith Formation Program, grades K-12 Recruits and supervises catechists Maintains student and catechist records Provides basic training and formation of all catechists Evaluates programs, personnel, facilities and curricula Provides opportunities for Christian Service for students Coordinates all sacramental preparation, including formation of parents and children Prepares the liturgical celebration Establishes operating procedures for management of
Program:
Orders textbooks Schedules classes Makes room assignments Plans liturgical celebrations and as well as reconciliation services and Days of Recollection Obtains and maintains resources used in the Faith Formation Program Is attentive to all diocesan policies and seeks training as suitable. OCIA Is involved or takes the lead in initiation efforts for children in the OCIA Vacation Bible School Plans a one-week Bible School during the summer Obtains materials for the Program. Recruits and trains catechists for the Program. Evaluates the success for the program Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Formation M.A. in theology, religious education, or equivalent. A bachelor's or lay ecclesial ministry certificate with experience would also be considered. Servant leader with skills for outreach to families Familiarity with current Church documents on faith formation, including the Directory for Catechesis. Skills in the use of Microsoft Suite and Parish Soft Good organizational skills
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Maintains Diocesan Catechetical Certification. Attends Diocesan Catechetical Leader Gatherings Participates in opportunities for spiritual and educational growth. Networks with other Catechetical Leaders to improve current programs. Helps with the coordination and execution of the St. Augustine area Confirmation Retreat. Language Skills Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
