$135,000.00- $165,000.00Position Summary:
The Berlin-Boylston Regional School District is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and highly skilled Director of Finance and Operations to oversee and manage the district's financial, operational, and business functions. The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the district leadership team and will provide strategic oversight of budgeting, accounting, procurement, facilities coordination, transportation, food services, and other operational systems to support the educational mission of the district. The Director of Finance and Operations will ensure fiscal responsibility, transparency, compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and efficient district operations while fostering positive relationships with staff, families, municipal partners, and the community. Essential ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership:
Develop and administer the district's annual operating budget in collaboration with the Superintendent and School Administrators Monitor revenues and expenditures to ensure sound fiscal management and long-term sustainability Prepare financial forecasts, budget presentations, and reports for the School Committee and municipal stakeholders Oversee all accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable, grants management, and financial reporting Ensure compliance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) reporting requirements and all local, state, and federal regulations. Coordinate annual audits and implement recommendations as appropriate Collaborate with other district leadership staff on writing, submitting, and managing both entitlement and competitive grantsOperational Management:
Oversee district operational functions including facilities, transportation, food services, technology coordinator, and contracted services Assist with capital planning and facilities improvement projects Manage procurement processes and ensure compliance with public purchasing laws Develop and maintain operational procedures that support efficiency and accountability Coordinate risk management and insurance programs Act as the Records Access OfficerLeadership and Collaboration:
Serve as an advisor to the Superintendent and School Committee on financial and operational matters Collaborate with school and municipal leaders to support district goals and initiatives Supervise business office personnel and related operational staff. Promote a culture of professionalism, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred. Massachusetts School Business Administrator licensure required or ability to obtain Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in finance, business administration, or school district operations Experience in municipal or school finance strongly preferred Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, accounting principles, procurement laws, and financial management systems Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills Proficiency with financial software systems and Microsoft Office applications Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders Preferred Attributes Experience working in a regional school district environment strongly preferred Demonstrated knowledge and experience with regional school district budget development processes, including collaboration with multiple member towns, school committees, advisory boards, and municipal finance stakeholders Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities Commitment to transparency, integrity, and ethical financial practices Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative educational environment Experience presenting financial information to boards, committees, and community stakeholders Application Process Interested candidates should submit: Letter of interest Resume Three current professional references Relevant licensure/certifications Apply through SchoolSpring Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position has been filled.Position Type:
