PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This district position will provide guidance and leadership for the district Fine Arts program. The position will also provide leadership and coordination for the K-12 Art, Music, and Theater Arts programs in order to provide each student enrolled with varied opportunities in the area of fine arts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements Master's degree in a Fine Arts Field of Study with appropriate certification for position, preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee. Special Knowledge/Skills Strong community relations Proficient Computer Skills Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate effectively with administrators and teachers Experience Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in public education preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
(The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.) Plan the long- and short-range objectives for art, music, and theater programs Implement the state and District curricula Develop curriculum frameworks with lessons Embed research-based best practices in teaching and learning Select appropriate teaching materials using a variety of activities to develop student interest and performance Assist Human Resources Department with interviewing prospective teachers and makes recommendations to principals for quality staffing Represent the fine arts staff at School Board meetings and other meetings upon request Advise administration on issues related to student services, staff concerns, and other issues affecting the success of the fine arts program Oversee the selection of educational materials and the development/revision of the fine arts curriculum Assist the fine arts staff and principals with the effective implementation of the curriculum in order to achieve state, district, and school goals in fine arts Ensure that all fine arts instructional programs are consistent throughout the district and abide by state and local courses of study Conduct, at minimum, quarterly meetings with the district staff of each discipline Maintain fine arts budgets Ensure supplies/ materials are ordered and available Maintain a web site Develop professional learning opportunities Visit schools to assist teachers and ensure implementation of lessons Work with the district curriculum team to support and reinforce vertical skills Participating in professional development activities Interact and communicate effectively with parents and school staff Participate in the planning, presentation, and evaluation of various fine arts activities. Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of personnel rules, regulations, and practices Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
