Director of Health & Nutrition Job Description Job Summary:
This position oversees comprehensive health, nutrition, and wellness services for enrolled children and families. This role ensures compliance while promoting school readiness through healthy development. This role leads initiatives in medical, dental, and nutrition services, by coordinating with staff, families, and community partners. They supervise staff and develop policies that align with best practices in early childhood health. The position plays a key role in safeguarding child health, supporting family engagement, and advancing program quality as an active member of the Program Design and Management Team. As a member of Wyoming Child and Family's Program Design and Management (PDM) team, this position strengthens the agency's CORE—Compliance, Oversight, Relationships, and Execution. CORE Responsibilities All duties will comply with all rules, regulations, and practices of the agency and its regulating authorities. WCFD standards, DFS licensing, NAEYC guidelines, Wyoming Division of Disabilities regulations, and WCFD policies. All employees will adhere to the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of WCFD. Ensures agency-wide adherence to all internal and external applicable regulations, policies and procedures Provides oversite, leadership, and direct supervision of health and nutrition systems and staff across all centers to ensure systems are effectively implemented Establishes clear expectations and accountability structures for health and nutrition service delivery Monitors data and trends (health outcomes, nutrition compliance, screenings, follow-ups, etc) to guide program improvements Ensures consistency across centers while allowing for community-specific needs Oversees interdisciplinary coordination across health, education, family services, and disabilities Embeds compliance into systems to ensure proactive, consistent implementation Uses data and monitoring results to guide decision-making and program improvements Builds strong partnerships with families, health providers, and community agencies Serves as liaison to medical and health service communities to ensure access to care Supports center leadership and staff in addressing health and nutrition needs Promotes a culture of wellness, prevention, and shared accountability Collaborates across PDM to ensure integrated service delivery Ensures timely follow-up on health concerns, care plans, medication administration, and screenings Identifies and eliminates gaps in service delivery, access to care, and compliance Integrates health and nutrition into daily classroom and family engagement practices Ensures that each child receives required health services, including: Health history, physical examination and follow-up, oral health examination and follow-up, immunization screening and compliance, nutrition services, including prescribed special diets Ensures each Early Head Start pregnant woman has access to prenatal care and receives required postpartum follow-up, including the 2-week post-delivery check Plans, coordinates, and ensures delivery of training for staff and families, including: Record keeping and screening follow-up for First Aid/CPR/Universal Precautions, Medication administration, Health and nutrition practices, Care plan implementation, and recognition of childhood illness and health concerns Ensures training is aligned with compliance requirements and operational needs Assists in hiring and supervision of health and nutrition staff Promotes positive public relations within the program and community Participates in child and family outreach and recruitment efforts Ensure ability to perform job functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodations Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Board or its designee.Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to work with families and children through birth through age 5 Ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational systems Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate into actionable growth opportunities Ability to work across disciplines and support integrated services Demonstrated ability to lead at a component level across multiple program areas Reliable,anized, and detail oriented Must possess strong problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately Excellent interpersonal skills are required to collaborate with individuals with diverse ranges of personalities, backgrounds, and knowledge bases Strong communication skills are essential to interact with staff, children, families, and the broader community. Must have effective stress management strategies and the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations. Flexibility is key; the ability to adapt to changing daily routines is required. Bilingual candidates are preferred.Education and Experience:
Education (required): Bachelor's degree in nursing, public/community health, health education, heath administration, maternal and child health, nutrition, or related field Experience (required): Minimum 3-5 years in child health, public health, or nutrition programs, and experience in health systems coordination Experience (preferred): 1-3 years of supervisory or program management experience including program operations, compliance, and systems improvement Experience (preferred): 1-3 years of experience with Head Start health and nutrition requirements and CACFP regulations Education (preferred): Current nursing licensure, in good standing, to practice nursing in the State of Wyoming if RN or LPN. 5 years' experience in the medical field at a different role/level could substitute for this preference Must be willing to attain additional training or certifications, which may be required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc. WCFD will only accept college degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.Physical Requirements:

Must be able to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or reach, to retrieve materials and supplies from ground level to a height of at least 5 ft. Must have upper body strength to lift and carry the equivalent of 50 pounds. Must be able to assist a child to safety in case of an emergency. Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures, including hot and cold weather.
