Immediately Job Description Position Summary The Director of Maintenance & Custodial Services is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all maintenance, custodial, and facilities operations across the district. This role ensures that all school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained to support a positive learning environment for students and staff. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management Supervise and evaluate maintenance and custodial staff, including hiring, training, and performance management Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure efficient staffing across all facilities Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance Facilities Maintenance Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all district buildings, systems, and equipment (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) Ensure timely response to maintenance requests and emergencies Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and asset management Custodial Operations Establish and enforce cleaning standards and procedures for all schools and district facilities Monitor cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of buildings and grounds Manage custodial supplies and equipment inventory Budget & Purchasing Develop and manage departmental budgets Approve purchases of equipment, materials, and services Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, fire codes, etc.) Oversee safety programs, inspections, and training Coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans Vendor & Project Management Coordinate and oversee contractors and service providers Manage facility improvement projects, renovations, and capital planning Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to specifications Communication & Collaboration Work closely with school administrators and district leadership Respond to concerns and service requests in a timely and professional manner
