CENTRAL DECATUR COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
JOB TITLE:
Coach
REPORTS TO
Activities Director
JOB GOAL
To supervise and provide leadership to the athletic program in such a way as to assure cooperation and harmony within school. To provide direction, coordination, and supervision of all phases of the K-12 program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current coaching certification. Coaching experience preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board my find appropriate and acceptable. (This indicates the minimum experience and education or the equivalent needed to perform this job).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To support all Board and administrative policies of the school district at all times. To instruct athletes in the fundamentals and the skills of the activity which are necessary for achievement in the specific sport. To communicate with students, staff, parents, community, and media recognizing athletes for participation and accomplishments in a manner conducive to the total school program. To coordinate all levels of specific sport (being sport specific it should be decided between head coach and athletic director as to how low a level would be beneficial to the total program from elementary to varsity level). Organize the program in a manner which best utilized all resources available including providing handbooks for all staff in specific sports including expectation, discipline policies, and schedules for athletes and parents. Have pre-season meetings with athletes and parents. To exhibit knowledge and skills of the specific activities through a regular program of practice during the season and those optional activities throughout the off-season. To enforce sportsmanship at all times. To support all other school activities. To maintain the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned sport is conducted at all times student participants are present. To recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as required. Keep individual/team stats/records throughout the season to be used as coaches feel necessary. Implement a form of physical training established by weightlifting instructor and head varsity coaches to be offered to all athletes in season and out of season. To evaluate your entire program at the end of the season with input from athletes, assistant coaches, and athletic director. Head coach will assist the Athletic Director with job evaluations of assistant coaches and middle school coaches. Varsity Head Coach communicate a minimum of twice a month with assistant and middle school coaches to develop a consistent program implementing drills, skills, and discipline techniques. (These are duties that the person holding this job MUST be able to perform. OTHER FUNCTIONS
