$200K•250K base salary, relocation assistance, annual performance bonus historically in the $50K range, plus additional incentive compensation averaging approximately $30K•40K based on recent years. Position Overview We are seeking a high-energy, hands-on Director of Manufacturing to lead a fast-paced metal fabrication operation. This role is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing functions, driving operational performance, and scaling production as the business continues to grow. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can manage multiple priorities, and is comfortable being both strategic and hands-on on the shop floor. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all manufacturing operations including production, maintenance, production control, and shipping/receiving Drive production performance to meet schedules, customer deadlines, and quality standards Establish and manage KPIs focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost Implement continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes Improve efficiency through cost reduction, waste reduction, and productivity improvements Lead hiring, training, development, and performance management of manufacturing teams Manage capacity planning and production scheduling to support business growth Partner with engineering and quality teams to optimize manufacturing processes Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations Maintain clear communication of priorities and accountability across all levels of the organization Support strategic planning and participate in leadership-level decision making Evaluate and implement new technologies and best practices to enhance operations Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred (advanced degree a plus) Minimum 7+ years of experience leading manufacturing operations in a metal fabrication or machine shop environment Proven experience managing mid-to-large manufacturing teams (~100+ employees) Strong hands-on leadership style with the ability to engage directly on the production floor Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and shifting demands in a fast-paced environment Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes including laser cutting, punching, forming, and press brake operations Experience with machining (3, 4, 5-axis), milling, and turning Familiarity with welding processes (MIG/TIG), finishing, coating, and mechanical assembly Strong understanding of quality control, inspection processes, and manufacturing standards Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T Experience leading multi-shift operations or scaling production capacity is a strong plus Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills Leadership Profile Hands-on leader who leads from the front and builds respect through action Strong decision-maker who can operate effectively in a fast-moving environment Able to balance production demands, team leadership, and operational efficiency Focused on accountability, performance, and continuous improvement Skilled at motivating, developing, and managing diverse teams Work Environment Fast-paced metal fabrication and manufacturing environment Growing organization with increasing production demands Opportunity to build structure, improve processes, and scale operations About Us Top Prospect Group is a technical staffing firm specializing in placing engineering and manufacturing professionals nationwide.
