Job Description
Job Overview Monticello Academy is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Marketing and Communications to lead our enrollment marketing, brand storytelling, website management, digital presence, and community outreach. This role is especially important as Monticello Academy expands its West Point campus through junior high. The Director of Marketing and Communications will help families understand what makes Monticello distinct: rigorous academics, a content-rich curriculum, structured classrooms, strong character expectations, and a clear pathway toward long-term student success. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, a disciplined project manager, and a data-informed marketer who can translate a strong school program into clear, compelling messages for families. About Monticello Academy Monticello Academy is a high-performing public charter school network committed to rigorous academics, strong character formation, and a knowledge-rich education. Our academic model includes Core Knowledge, Singapore Math, strong literacy instruction, explicit teaching, and a structured school culture. Monticello Academy recently received a $2,000,000 Charter School Program Expansion Grant to support the expansion of our West Point campus through junior high. As we grow, we are looking for a marketing and communications leader who can strengthen enrollment demand, build community awareness, and ensure our public-facing communications reflect the quality of our academic program. Duties and Responsibilities Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies aligned with Monticello Academy's mission, enrollment goals, and expansion plans. Lead enrollment campaigns that increase family inquiries, tour sign-ups, open house attendance, applications, and completed enrollments. Oversee Monticello Academy's online presence, including the school website, social media platforms, Google Business Profiles, online directories, search visibility, and digital advertising. Manage and regularly update website content, including enrollment pages, campus information, academic program descriptions, news posts, event information, transportation updates, and family resources. Create written content for website pages, emails, newsletters, social media, press releases, advertisements, brochures, flyers, and enrollment materials. Lead digital marketing efforts across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, email marketing, and other channels relevant to prospective families. Use analytics and enrollment data to evaluate campaign performance and improve results. Strengthen brand consistency, communication channels, and marketing materials. Communicate Monticello Academy's academic model clearly, including Core Knowledge, Singapore Math, literacy instruction, structured classrooms, character expectations, and junior high preparation. Plan and support outreach events, open houses, tours, information nights, community events, and other recruitment activities. Build relationships with community partners, parent ambassadors, civic organizations, vendors, and other groups that can expand awareness of Monticello Academy. Manage marketing timelines, campaign budgets, vendor relationships, and project deliverables. Support public relations efforts, including grant announcements, school milestones, media inquiries, and major school updates. Ensure communications are professional, accurate, timely, accessible, and aligned with public charter school requirements. Skills and Qualifications Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and copywriting skills. Experience developing and managing marketing, communications, enrollment, public relations, or outreach campaigns. Knowledge of digital marketing, including social media, email marketing, SEO, paid advertising, content marketing, and website management. Experience managing or updating websites through WordPress, Squarespace, Finalsite, Wix, or another content management system. Ability to use analytics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and make data-informed decisions. Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Business Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar platforms. Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines, campaigns, events, and stakeholders. Good visual judgment and ability to oversee design, photography, video, and branded materials. Professional judgment, attention to detail, and ability to represent the school well in public-facing communications. Commitment to Monticello Academy's mission and ability to communicate the value of a rigorous, knowledge-rich education. Required Experience Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business, education, or a related field. Demonstrated experience managing campaigns, creating written content, and using digital platforms to reach target audiences. Preferred Experience At least 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, enrollment, public relations, digital marketing, or a comparable role. Experience in K-12 education, charter schools, private schools, nonprofits, or mission-driven organizations. Experience with enrollment marketing, school choice communications, community outreach, or family recruitment. Familiarity with Utah communities, especially Davis County, Weber County, Salt Lake County, West Point, Clearfield, Hooper, Sunset, West Valley City, or surrounding areas. Experience managing Google Business Profiles, school review platforms, online directories, and local search visibility. Photography, videography, graphic design, or basic web design skills. Spanish-language communication ability is a plus. Schedule Full-time, year-round position. Some evening or weekend availability will be required for school events, open houses, community outreach, enrollment activities, and major communications needs.
