Job Description

Director of Nursing (DON) Long-term care (LTC) facility dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to our residents. Our mission is to enhance the lives of those we serve by delivering exceptional care in a warm and supportive environment. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to join our leadership team and oversee the nursing department.
Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for the overall clinical management of the nursing department. This role involves ensuring the highest standards of resident care, regulatory compliance, staff management, and continuous quality improvement. The DON will work closely with the Administrator and other department heads to achieve the facility's goals and maintain an environment that promotes the well-being of both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:
Oversee all nursing operations, ensuring that resident care is delivered with excellence, compassion, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that the nursing department complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies, including infection control and safety protocols.
Staff Management:
Recruit, train, and supervise nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and teamwork.
Quality Assurance:
Lead quality assurance initiatives, regularly reviewing and enhancing care practices to maintain and improve resident outcomes.
Resident Care:
Ensure that residents receive appropriate and individualized care, and that care plans are developed, implemented, and evaluated effectively.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other department heads and the facility Administrator to coordinate resident care, share information, and resolve issues.
Family & Community Relations:
Serve as a primary point of contact for residents' families regarding nursing care, and participate in community outreach and education efforts.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) with a current and valid state license. Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role within a long-term care facility. Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing LTC facilities. Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
