Job Description

The role… The Director of Openings & Transitions is responsible for leading the successful delivery of new Soho House projects from early-stage development through operational readiness, opening, and transition. This role serves as the primary liaison between Soho House Design, Development, and in-house teams, and on-the-ground project teams, consultants, contractors, and local authorities, ensuring all projects are delivered in line with brand standards and operational requirements. Working closely with Development, Design, Culinary, and Senior Operations leadership, the Director ensures all new Houses and venues are conceptually strong, operationally viable, and positioned for long-term financial success. The Director will oversee project planning, operational readiness, and concept execution across key projects including Sonoma, Palm Springs, and Venice Beach, while also supporting leadership transitions within operational Houses to ensure continuity in performance, standards, and overall guest and member experience. This role operates at a strategic level, partnering closely with Area GMs, Managing Directors, and VP-level leadership to drive successful openings and transitions, and is not responsible for the day-to-day operation of individual properties. Main Duties Strategic Leadership & Transitions Oversee the build-out and structure of leadership teams across new and transitioning properties, ensuring the right roles, talent, and accountability are in place Work closely with Area GMs and senior leadership to support alignment on strategy, performance expectations, and operational readiness across new and transitioning properties Portfolio Performance Ensure strong financial performance across Palm Springs venues by setting clear expectations and aligning leadership teams with revenue and profitability goals Partner with property leadership to strengthen concept positioning and drive revenue opportunities across F&B, events, and programming Concept & Commercial Direction Guide the development and execution of F&B and events strategies across properties, ensuring concepts are cohesive, commercially effective, and aligned with Soho House standards Oversee the integration of key concepts, including catering and events, to maximize revenue across venues Openings & Development Act as the central point of oversight across Sonoma, Palm Springs, and Venice Beach projects, ensuring alignment from concept through to full operational readiness Ensure staffing models, operating procedures, and pre-opening plans are aligned with timelines and overall business objectives Operational Standards Partner with the Director of Service Standards to ensure alignment on service expectations across new and transitioning properties Coordinate the timing and deployment of service standards support during key phases of pre-opening and transition to ensure on-site teams are set up for success Support leadership teams in embedding and sustaining service standards post-opening through structured follow-up and alignment Leadership Development Mentor and support senior leadership teams, building strong management capability and long-term retention Ensure teams are set up with clear structure, expectations, and ongoing support Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Sales, Communications and Membership teams to align on revenue-driving strategies, programming, and overall guest experience Ensure strong collaboration across teams to support business growth Financial Oversight & Optimization Oversee budgets, forecasts, and cost controls across projects, ensuring alignment with financial goals Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, performance, and overall profitability Executive Communication Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project progress, operational performance, risks, and key opportunities Act as a key partner on openings, transitions, and overall performance strategy Why work with us... In accordance with California law, the salary range for this role if filled within California is listed below. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. Pay Range $185,000 - $200,000 USD
