Full Position Summary The Director of Operations plays a critical leadership role at The GTI Group by overseeing and directing the day-to-day activities of our transportation brokerage division. This role ensures that our operational processes align with company goals and customer expectations. The Director will be responsible for developing strategic plans, driving execution, optimizing performance, and mentoring the operations team to deliver best-in-class logistics solutions. This is a dynamic role that requires a deep understanding of transportation brokerage, drayage and cross-docking operations , a strong leadership presence, and a passion for driving efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will bring operational excellence, a continuous improvement mindset, and proven experience managing high-performance teams in a non-asset-based freight environment. You will work cross-functionally with sales, finance, and carrier development teams to ensure seamless execution and delivery of customer freight. The Director of Operations will be tasked with identifying and implementing process improvements, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring alignment with The GTI Group's strategic goals. You will lead by example and help cultivate a high-performance culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Your Day-to-Day Impact
  • Lead and manage day-to-day brokerage and drayage operations ensuring service quality, profitability, and operational efficiency
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to grow the brokerage business and expand service offerings
  • Coach, mentor, and develop operations staff with a focus on performance, career development, and succession planning
  • Analyze business trends and performance metrics to make data-driven decisions and identify areas for improvement
  • Maintain strong carrier and customer relationships, ensuring capacity needs and service standards are consistently met
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service departments to ensure seamless onboarding and ongoing service delivery
  • Oversee the vetting and onboarding of carriers to ensure compliance with internal and industry safety standards
  • Evaluate and implement technologies and tools to enhance operational performance
  • Manage and report on budgetary goals and financial performance related to brokerage operations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and company transportation regulations and policies
  • Champion a culture of safety, integrity, and excellence throughout the operations team
  • Lead crisis and incident management for operational issues and ensure resolution plans are in place Essentials For Your Success
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing successful transportation brokerage teams
  • Strong knowledge of the North American freight market, OTR brokerage, drayage/intermodal and cross-docking operations.
  • Experience in a non-asset-based freight model (open deck, dry van, reefer, heavy haul, expedited, drayage, cross-dock, etc.)
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Deep understanding of carrier compliance, vetting standards, and transportation safety practices
  • High proficiency in TMS platforms and transportation tools (Load Link, DAT, RMIS, etc.)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure, results-driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-first mentality. Ability to manage a team and team leaders while conforming to company values.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines, insurance requirements, and industry trends Education and/or Experience
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
    Minimum Experience Required:
    7+ years in transportation or logistics, with at least 3 years in a leadership or operations management role in a brokerage setting
