Director of Operations

Job Summary Position Summary The Executive Director of El Dorado Main Street is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and advancement of the organization's mission to revitalize and sustain El Dorado's historic downtown as a vibrant center for commerce, culture, and community. The Executive Director serves as the chief administrator, primary advocate, and public face of the program, working collaboratively with the Board of Directors, volunteers, businesses, property owners, local government, and community partners. Key Responsibilities Organizational Leadership & Administration Serve as the day-to-day manager of El Dorado Main Street Implement the organization's mission, strategic plan, and annual work plan in alignment with Main Street principles Support and collaborate with the Board of Directors, including preparing agendas, reports, and recommendations Supervise staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers as applicable Maintain accurate records, policies, and compliance with nonprofit and funding requirements Financial Management & Fundraising Develop and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer Track expenditures, revenue, grants, and sponsorships Lead fundraising efforts, including sponsorship development, grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events Ensure financial transparency and timely reporting to the Board and funding partners Downtown Revitalization & Program Management Coordinate and support economic vitality initiatives including business recruitment, retention, and support Facilitate historic preservation, beautification, and design initiatives Support downtown property owners and business owners with resources, referrals, and technical assistance Oversee implementation of Main Street committee work Promotion, Marketing & Community Engagement Serve as the primary spokesperson for El Dorado Main Street Oversee branding, marketing, social media, newsletters, and public communications Plan, coordinate, and promote downtown events, festivals, and community activities Build strong relationships with local businesses, residents, civic groups, and partners Engage volunteers and foster community pride Ensure consistent branding and messaging for El Dorado Main Street Partnerships & Advocacy Collaborate with city officials, economic development organizations, chambers, tourism entities, and regional partners Advocate for downtown interests related to policy, infrastructure, and economic development Represent El Dorado Main Street at local, regional, and state meetings and trainings Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent experience Experience in nonprofit leadership, economic development, or community development preferred Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills Experience with budgeting, fundraising, and grants Ability to work independently and collaboratively Familiarity with the Main Street Approach is a plus Competent in computer skills and social media Work Environment Full-time position with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
