Job Description
An inpatient health care facility located in Erie Pennsylvania is in search of a Director of Plant / Environmental Operations The ideal candidate will have knowledge of regulatory compliance in a health care setting, the accreditation process, as well as have experience overseeing and administering preventative maintenance programs and providing oversight to construction projects. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise, direct and train employees. Maintain budget while meeting short and long term goals of the facility. Be an active participant in various committees, assist with purchase of capital equipment, and operate the physical plant of the facility in accord with all state, federal, and local regulations and standards set forth by our accrediting body. College degree in related discipline or equivalent in experience with a minimum of three years working in a supervisory position related to building maintenance. Ideal candidate would have five or more years of experience in plant operations management within a skilled care nursing facility, hospital or other inpatient healthcare facility.

The Director of Environmental / Plant Operations is responsible for the overall physical plant operations and environmental services. This includes the supervision, direction & training of employees, maintenance of budget while meeting the short & long term goals of the facility, active involvement in all committees, design, implementation & evaluation of a preventive environmental/maintenance program, capital equipment, purchasing & adherence to all federal, state & local codes & standards including accreditation standards set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, OSHA & theAOA. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: 1. Plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Environmental Service and Plant Operations Department, its program and activities to maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary and orderly condition. 2. Assume Administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the department to comply with regulatory requirements. 3. Schedules and supervises maintenance and housekeeping functions and activities so as not to interrupt or interfere with patient care activities. 4. Provides essential equipment and supplies and ensures that cleaning agents/housekeeping chemicals meet required standards to effect maximum cleanliness and sanitation. 5. Investigates and evaluates new housekeeping supplies and equipment and makes recommendations to administration. 6. Inspects and evaluates the hospital's physical condition. Makes recommendations concerning painting, repairs, furnishings and furniture, relocation of equipment, and allocation of space to improve sanitation, appearances, and efficiency. 7. Maintain departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes. 8. Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. 9. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 10. Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned. 11. Acts as Co-Chairperson of Building Planning Committee. 12. Responsibility for all Life Safety functions. 13. Acts as Co-Chairperson of the Disaster Plan Committee. 14. Acts as an active member of the Safety Committee 15. Establishes & administers a preventive maintenance program meeting or surpassing state codes & requirements to ensure safe, efficient operation of equipment. Monitors utility costs, usage & efficiency. 16. Responsible for the maintenance & monitoring of all keying systems, security infraction follow up & parking policies. Monitors in-house security by proper distribution of access keys. 17. Customer Relations/Mutual Respect- Demonstrates respect & regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors & fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsive & courteous hospital environment. 18. - Follows established hospital & departmental precautions & procedures in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment for self & others. 19. Attendance & Punctuality
- Meets hospital's attendance & punctuality requirements to ensure proper coverage & quality service to patients, visitors & co-workers 20.
QUALIFICATIONS
:EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
: College degree in related discipline or equivalent in experience with a minimum of three years working in a supervisory position related to the building maintenance field.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
