Job Description

Full Job Description Use of assessment and design strategies to develop and provide orientation, in-service and continuing education services specific to the needs of the facility. Coordinates and leads the facility initiatives relating to staff competency; educates licensed nurses and support staff on assessing, developing and maintaining competencies related to performance standards and expectations. Supports staff by mentoring, by precept and providing on the job and follow-up training. Documents the teaching/learning process and outcomes of all the trained staff.
Qualifications:
RN or LVN 2 years of experience in a clinical setting (SNF experience preferred) Experience in educating adults preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Must meet background check requirements. Ability to work across different departments toward common goals Participates in and completes all required in-service training's.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist the Director of Nursing and nursing staff to ensure that residents have a clean, safe, orderly and comfortable environment. Assist in implementing education and in service based on clinical findings from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing. Assist the Director of Nursing to establish education and in service criteria based on review of complaints and grievances voiced by families and/or residents. Coordinates and leads Employee orientation. Provide necessary education and in service for emergency care / assessment and the implementation of emergency procedures. Provide education and in service to all facility staff on facility policy and procedures. Provide education and in service regarding incidents / accidents, proper follow-up and reporting. Provide necessary education to all facility staff in the investigation of alleged abuse or neglect or of unusual occurrences, as outlined within policy and procedures. Provide education and in service for intravenous medications as ordered. Provide education and in service for patient care / admission of medications . Provide education to licensed nursing staff on the general care and assessment of Foley Catheters, Tracheotomies, Oxygen Therapy / Inhalation Therapy, Diabetic Care, Insulin Administration, Glucometer usage and calibration, Wound Assessment / Treatments, etc. as directed by the Director of Nursing. Maintain education and proficiency result records for facility staff. Provide education and in service to nursing staff on safe equipment handling. Assist in educating staff on deficient practices cited by the Department of Aging and Disability Services, Consultants, and the Quality Assurance Team. Provide education and in service for Infection Control Measures for nosocomial infections, isolation practices, and facility acquired infections. Assist the Director of Nursing on education of facility Fall Preventions Program. Assist the Director of Nursing on education of facility Abuse and Neglect Prohibition Policy / Staff Burn Out. Attend and participate in staff meetings and in service classes. Provide education to facility staff on employee injury prevention. Provide education to facility staff on OSHA requirement and PPA. Demonstrate an awareness of proper infection Control Practices by using universal precautions and following policies and procedures of Momentum Skilled Services. Other as indicated as necessary and appropriate by the Director of Nursing.
Supervision:
Make resident rounds to ensure appropriate care is being rendered, identifying and making corrections as necessary. Meet with nursing personnel to assist with identifying and correcting problems. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, assist in the ongoing facility evaluation of education needs.
Consumer Service:
Presents professional image to consumers through dress, behavior and speech. Adheres to Company standards for resolving consumer concerns. Ensures that all residents' rights are protected.
