Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, the Director of Student Services is responsible for developing and assisting with the implementation of Student Services goals, objectives, strategies, evaluations, support materials, appropriate in-service programs, training and project implementation as determined by District needs, goals, and priorities. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing mulit-tiered systems of support and related services, supporting students' academic, social, emotional, physical, and mental health needs, and student behavioral interventions. Additionally the Director will facilitate, implement, and respond to components of school safety. The Director will coordinate and collaborate with other departments to engage in an integrated approach to help students thrive and succeed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education or related field PLUS three (3) years of related work experience. Requires three (3) or more years of school principal experience. Requires a valid USBE administrative certification. Requires, in addition to school principal experience, three (3) or more years in education including roles in teaching, counseling, psychology, clinical support, special education, and/or administration. Experience in school counseling, social work, psychology, or related fields preferred but not required. Requires strong oral and written communication skills and technology skills. Requires effective problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills. Requires demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in a positive work environment. Requires experience developing and implementing programs for student wellness, discipline, attendance, safety, and behavioral intervention. Ability to manage and implement multiple simultaneous projects, programs and deadlines while producing high quality results. Ability to manage appropriate budget allocations to provide fiscal accountability. Ability to develop and implement policies, guidelines, and procedures for effective utilization in the District. Ability to develop and foster interpersonal relationships amongst multiple stakeholder groups. Requires a current and valid drivers licence that allows the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle in Utah. Must be able to provide their own transportation.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plan, develop, and implement student behavior management approaches to student interventions and supports. Manage and direct District safe schools processes. Develop and implement school and student safety programs. Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of restorative, trauma-informed Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) including (but not limited to): Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Prevention (suicide, harassment, bullying, & violence) Student social emotional wellness Response to intervention (RTI) Provide leadership, administration, training, monitoring and implementation of supportive measures and programs including (but not limited to): At-Risk students and behavior Mental health programs and supports School mental health staff School Counselors School Social Workers/Clinicians School Psychologists Student support systems Crisis support Illegal substance cessation Student behavior interventions and supports Truancy Reintegrations Others as assigned Provide effective training to school-based staff in all areas of Student Services. Facilitate, plan, and implementation of early warning and threat assessment systems, programs, and procedures. Manage, maintain, and establish a budget to support Student Service programs and services. Develop and prepare grants as necessary. Assist with the preparation and presentation of reports, recommendations, and programs to the Board of Education regarding department activities and to assist in responding to the requests of the Board as required. Assist in the interpretation and dissemination of educational programs. Implement, monitor, and assess programs of instruction and intervention. Work with outside agencies, providers, and governments to increase inter-agency cooperation and support. Supervise, coordinate and accurately maintain all student records and confidentiality. Keep abreast of trends and developments in MTSS, prevention, safety, discipline, mental health, and others as related to Student Services.Similar remote jobs
