Job Description
Primary responsibilities include:
Lead the administration, organization, and daily operations of the SAS office, including but not limited to scheduling the provision of services and maintaining records and tracking systems Maintain a database system for monitoring and reporting on the number of students with disabilities, their needs, and the effectiveness of service delivery for program improvement purposes Supervise two professional staff members Review documentation of disability, including psychological, medical, academic, and educational assessments, and recommend reasonable accommodations for students for both academic programs and residence life housing needs Oversee requests for housing and dining accommodations, Emotional Support Animals requests, and manage Housing Committee process Coordinate services and equipment necessary for reasonable accommodation as well as work with third-party vendors when relevant to providing assistive technology, note-takers, transcription services, sign language interpreters, etc. Identify and implement assistive technology resources to ensure students with disabilities have access to university curricula and programs Assist in college efforts to ensure that all programs and services are accessible to people with disabilities Identify sources of grant funding and scholarship programs for students with disabilities; Manage the annual departmental budget Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Advising, Retention, and Student Success Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree with at least five years of professional experience in student disability services or related academic student support services Experience typically obtained in 1+ years providing leadership and/or supervision to professional staff, graduate assistants, or student employees Experience determining and coordinating academic and/or housing accommodations for students with disabilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA and ADAAA), the Fair Housing Act (FHA), and other relevant federal and state compliance requirements. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree with at least three years of professional experience in student disability services or related academic student support services Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing, including ability to maintain detailed records Ability to effectively prioritize, delegate, and meet deadlines when managing multiple priorities Ability to problem-solve, collaborate, mediate conflict, and negotiate in challenging situations Track accommodation requests, approvals, and outcomes and exam proctoring using institutional case management systems (e.g. Slate) Demonstrated ability with Microsoft 365 (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams), Outlook Email and Calendar Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings to support accommodation processes and education/ outreach initiatives Salary Salary range $72,000 to $87,000 annually. Actual starting salary and level will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and other factors permitted by law.
