Job Description
Our client, a highly respected and well-established organization, is seeking an experienced Director of Underwriting to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior underwriting professional with a strong background in lease financing and structured credit transactions who is looking to join a collaborative, employee-focused culture. Key Responsibilities Lead underwriting and transaction evaluation activities for prospective financing opportunities, ensuring analyses are thorough, timely, and aligned with internal risk standards. Support structuring discussions by assessing collateral quality, borrower creditworthiness, and transaction viability while coordinating with internal compliance stakeholders on onboarding and regulatory requirements. Oversee transactions throughout the approval lifecycle, maintaining active management of deal flow to ensure complete and accurate investment memoranda and approvals. Conduct detailed financial and operational due diligence through direct engagement with clients, advisors, and finance teams to identify key risks and performance drivers. Partner cross-functionally with legal, accounting, and operational teams to facilitate documentation, closing, and funding activities while ensuring all conditions and approvals are properly satisfied. Evaluate and enhance internal execution processes to improve operational efficiency, transaction turnaround times, and overall client experience. Provide ongoing updates and market insight to senior leadership regarding portfolio opportunities, transaction developments, and industry trends. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree required with approximately 7+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, specialty finance, structured lending, or secured credit environments. Strong analytical background with experience evaluating corporate and individual financial statements, cash flow performance, leverage metrics, and profitability trends. Demonstrated experience underwriting a variety of secured lending transactions and participating in financing documentation and negotiations. Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments while balancing prudent risk assessment with commercial objectives. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience collaborating across risk, operations, legal, and executive leadership teams. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with adaptability to new technologies and systems.
