The Public Works Director is responsible for all operational matters for the Reno County Public Works Department. This is a professional managerial position that has full responsibility for Engineering, Maintenance and Construction of Roads and Bridges, Traffic and Vegetation Control including Noxious Weeds, Fleet Services consisting of vehicles and equipment, and Community Services consisting of two(2) Water Districts and five(5) Sewer Districts, Environmental, Planning and Zoning, Flood Plain Development and Survey Records. Considerable independent judgment is required in the interpretation of laws, resolutions, and regulations regarding county roads and public works programs. This position oversees an infrastructure system estimated at approximately $100,000,000.00 to include over 1,000 bridges, over 550 miles of county asphalt roads, over 1,400 crossroad culverts, over 4,600 entrance culverts, over 6,600 signs, and over 1,100 road right-of-way miles to maintain. Reno County is the 3 rd largest county with 1,256 square miles, and has one of the highest number of county asphalt roads and bridges for a single county in the State of Kansas. Public works owns and operates approximately 244 vehicles, and light, medium, and heavy equipment with an estimated value of approximately $8,000,000.00.Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Management, Engineering, and Public Infrastructure or minimum 10 years' experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certifications /Licenses:
