Compensation Considerations:
The Director of Reference and Transfusion Services reports to the Sr. Director of Reference Laboratories and Transfusion Services - NE Division. This position will oversee the operations at two IRLs (Chicago and Pittsburgh), one reference laboratory (Montvale, NJ), and one hospital transfusion service (Chicago). Travel is required. Job Description:
Vitalant is hiring an experienced Director, for our Reference and Transfusion Services division (IL Rosemont/ Chicago and Montvale, NJ). Under minimal direction, this position is responsible for managing the daily operational activities of the IRL, Reference Lab and/or Transfusion Services to ensure efficient and effective operations. This position is responsible for assuring compliance with policies, programs, and directives set forth by regulatory agencies and the organization. Ensures continued growth and development of reference laboratory and transfusion services. Direct overall management of daily activities to include operations, personnel, public relations and marketing. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Assurance Program for the laboratory to ensure high quality test services. Ensure the laboratory environment is consistent with continuous quality improvement initiatives. Assist with development and direction of the marketing program for the laboratory. Provide the structure and systems required to meet the needs of the local, regional and national customer bases. Develop business plans, as directed. Ensure administration and performance of all contracts and testing services agreements. Pursue additional opportunities, as directed. Approve and oversee the planning and implementation of clinical evaluations, new methodologies, special research projects and educational programs in conjunction with appropriate medical and technical staff. Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree required. Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations as they relate to laboratory operations required. Knowledge of management principles including human resource management, budget administration, financial analysis and business administration required
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS MT
(ASCP), BB, SBB, or equivalent certification/licensure or equivalent combination of education and experience required. BB or SBB preferred
EXPERIENCE
Eight years of directly related reference laboratory experience required.
