Job Description

Temporary assignments may be in support FEMAs Public Assistance Technical Assistance contract, FEMA's Consolidated Resource Center (CRC) contract, or state/local recovery efforts providing support to communities recovering from a disaster or catastrophic event. The work is often fast-paced and evolving and an opportunity to perform high-impact, rewarding work.
Areas of need include:
Site Inspectors:
backgrounds in construction, engineering (civil, electrical, structural, mechanical, geotechnical, coastal, environmental, hydraulic, sanitary, etc.) architecture, geology, and industrial hygiene to provide technical expertise to conduct site inspections in areas with major infrastructure damage
Mitigation Specialists:
civil engineers to develop cost-effective measures to eliminate or reduce future damage and evaluate effectiveness of mitigation measures
Environmental Planners:
backgrounds as an environmental planner, biologist, Certified Floodplain Manager, wetlands specialist, water quality specialist, ecologist, or horticulturalist to conduct site inspections, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements
Historic Preservation Specialists:
background in archaeologist, architectural historian, or historic architect to conduct historic preservation compliance reviews
Insurance & Claims Support:
insurance specialists (including claims review and commercial property insurance experience where applicable) to interpret policies, ensure compliance, and avoid duplication of benefits
Experienced CRC Specialists:
includes validating claims, developing cost estimates for eligible work, providing technical assistance, verifying insurance compliance, QA reviews to support scoping & costing, document validation, and project reviews for disasters Required U.S. citizenship is required for this positionBachelors degreeFEMA Public Assistance, Individual Assistance, and/or Consolidated Resource Center experienceFamiliarity with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) framework and applying Incident Command System (ICS) principles, through training and/or on-the-job experienceAbility to deploy with little notice (sometimes within 72 hours or less) Willing to work long and/or non-traditional hours in austere environmentsAbility to adapt and thrive in fast-paced and evolving situationsExcellent communication skillsHold or be able to obtain federal credentials and pass standard background and credit checks Desired Professional certificationsCompletion of FEMA Independent Study courses specific to Public Assistance (IS 1000-1023)J&M Global Solutions provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination, harassment, and retaliation of any type.
