Accounting- Disbursement Specialist Job Type:
Full Time Location:
Atlanta Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Viewing and checking all aspects of IOLTA account transactions, including deposits, disbursements Ensure compliance with state bar rules and legal trust accounting regulations Process client's settlement checks and packets with documents to disburse promptly and accurately Work closely with attorneys, all teams, and third-party vendors to coordinate disbursement packets Address client inquires related to payments, settlements, and account balances Answer emails/calls from providers to give status/payment updates and handle any discrepancies with providers and payments as well as for clients Upload and assist with audits and financial reporting related to trust accounts Identify and resolve discrepancies in account transactions Review client disbursement packets for accuracy and cut the checks needed for the client's disbursement. Put packets together and note as procedure requires Release money held in trust to clients Job qualifications: Experience in Personal Injury Law (legal accounting, banking, and financial disbursements) Strong understanding of IOLTA account regulations and trust accounting principles Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft excel as well as QuickBooks High attention to detail and accuracy and strong organizational skills Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion Excellent communication skills to work effectively with attorneys, clients, providers and financial institutions At least 1-3 years of accounting experience (Degree preferred but not required) Ability to work independently and as a team Ability to be cross trained and know all aspects of the accounting department duties and responsibilities Knowledge of how to cut checks with a system
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $58,466.53 per year
