Dispatcher - Building Components

S&L Lumber is a leading building material supplier in the central Ohio market. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to take on the role of Dispatcher at our building component manufacturer, S&L Truss. The schedule for this position is 6:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Some additional overtime may be required at the discretion of the General Manager. The Building Component Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the delivery, scheduling, and communication of truss, wall panel, stair, and other manufactured building component orders. This role helps ensure products are delivered accurately, safely, and on time to job sites while supporting production, sales, drivers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule and coordinate deliveries for trusses, panels, stairs, and related building components Obtain and coordinate required oversize load permits, routing approvals, and transportation documentation for truss deliveries in compliance with state and local regulations. Communicate with customers, contractors, sales staff, production, and drivers regarding delivery dates and job site needs Review orders for accuracy, delivery instructions, job site access, and required equipment Coordinate load sequencing with the production and yard teams Ensure trucks are loaded safely and efficiently based on delivery routes and job site requirements Monitor delivery schedules and adjust as needed for delays, weather, production changes, or customer needs Provide drivers with delivery paperwork, directions, permits, and special instructions Track completed deliveries and resolve delivery issues or discrepancies Maintain accurate records of schedules, loads, delivery tickets, and customer communications Support safe handling and transportation of oversized or specialty building components

Qualifications:

Experience in dispatch, logistics, lumberyard, construction, or building materials preferred Knowledge of trusses, wall panels, stairs, or building components is a plus Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple schedules and changing priorities Basic computer and order-entry skills Ability to work well with drivers, production teams, sales staff, and customers

Physical/Work Environment:

This position may require time in an office, yard, and production environment. Must be able to communicate clearly, walk job/yard areas as needed, and follow all company safety policies. Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties as they see fit.

Pay:

$26.00 - $29.00 per hour
