Assist in development and implementation of a comprehensive program of health services for the school. Responsible for providing direct health services to students. Promote health education and preventive health practices for students. Serve as health advocate for students. Serves as a Registered Nurse for The Hughen Center, Inc.'s special programs.QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program culminating with a certification as a registered nurse licensed through the Texas State Board of Nurse ExaminersSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners Basic computer skills. Working knowledge of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services Home and Community-based Services program, highly preferredExperience:
Two years' experience, preferably in community healthMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Participates in the implementation of a complete and functioning program to provide ongoing emergency healthcare and first aid. Enforces procedures for the administration, safety, and security of medications, first aid or health supplies and equipment. Trains designated staff according to state and local policy, including correct procedures for administering medications, caring for diabetic students and students with asthma or allergies. Coordinates health service activities with the instructional program. Implements health assessment and screening programs. Assists in control of communicable diseases by interpreting the policies and procedures for control of communicable disease within the school. Coordinates referrals to health care professionals for medical diagnostic services and treatment as needed. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy in the area of health services. Consults with staff on student health problems and provides assistance with individual cases as needed. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents as required. Presents for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district. Maintains a positive and effective relationship with supervisors. Complies with all district and local campus routines and regulations. Assures all students maintain state mandated immunization compliance. Provides training as needed. Maintains current CPR certification. Effectively communicates with co-workers, students, and parents. Assesses and responds to needs related to job responsibilities. Provides relevant counseling and guidance to students and parents so they may assume responsibility for maintenance of student health. Helps families use community resources for health-related needs. Develops professional skills appropriate to job assignments. Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Demonstrates the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement. Performs assigned nursing duties for The Hughen Center, Inc.'s special programs, including on-call rotation, and after-hours call outs as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS

Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child's education. Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus. Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages.
