Full Job Description Position Summary:

The DJ at the roller skating rink is responsible for creating an engaging, energetic, and family-friendly atmosphere by providing high-quality music and announcements that enhance the skating experience. This role requires strong knowledge of music genres, excellent crowd-reading skills, and an enthusiastic attitude for entertainment.

Key Responsibilities:

Music Curation:

Curate and play appropriate music playlists tailored to the rink's audience, including family-friendly, nostalgic, and current popular tracks. Seamlessly transition between songs to maintain a continuous flow of music that keeps skaters energized and engaged. Adapt the music selection to the crowd's mood, time of day, and special events or themes.

Event Hosting & Announcements:

Make clear, enthusiastic announcements regarding rink policies, upcoming events, contests, or promotions. Host and coordinate activities such as races, birthday shout-outs, and other interactive games. Engage with the crowd to build a fun, welcoming environment.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

Ensure sound levels are appropriate and comply with safety and local noise regulations. Maintain and secure equipment, reporting any malfunctions or damage immediately.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with rink management and staff to align music and announcements with rink activities and schedules. Be responsive to guest and management feedback to continuously improve the entertainment experience. Work with the floor guard to ensure the floor is being watched and actions are being corrected in real time.

Safety & Professionalism:

Maintain a professional demeanor and serve as a positive representative of the rink. Proactively monitor the rink floor and communicate any concerns or emergencies to management promptly.

Qualifications:

No prior DJ experience necessary Strong knowledge of a wide range of music genres appropriate for all ages. Excellent public speaking and crowd engagement skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Energetic personality with a passion for creating a fun and safe environment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in a lively, noisy environment with flashing lights.
